The Hyde Park Youth Symphony Announces Staff Additions

Chicago, Ill. – The Hyde Park Youth Symphony (HPYS) today announced two new additions to their staff as it begins the 63rd year of operations.  The organization offers opportunities for student musicians to learn the classical symphonic repertoire in a nurturing and supportive environment.  Rehearsals and concerts are held at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Chicago.

At the beginning of August, the HPYS board of directors hired Mr. Dileep Gangolli as executive director. In this position, Gangolli will manage the office and handle general administrative tasks as well as assisting in fund raising efforts and growing student participation.  A professional clarinetist, Gangolli is a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Lake Forest Symphony and has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and with the pit orchestra of the Joffrey Ballet. He is a graduate of the ChicagoBooth School of Business.

Beginning in September, the HPYS will welcome Ms. Daryl Silberman as a new member of the conducting staff to direct two string orchestras for beginning and intermediate students.  Silberman is the orchestra director at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL and is also on the conducting staff of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra.  She has earned degrees from the University of Southern California and Western Oregon State University.

“We are thrilled to have these two new additions to our staff at the Hyde Park Youth Symphony,” said Caryl Gout, HPYS board president.  “We believe that these two individuals have the unique skills to take our organization to the next level as we seek to expand our outreach and community engagement initiatives.”

Added Matthew Sheppard, conductor and artistic director of the HPYS, “I look forward to working closely with both Dileep and Daryl as we continue our mission to provide the highest level of music education to our students.  They both come with a wealth of useful experience that they can share with our orchestras and parents.”
