Anthony Krempa is honored to serve as the next Artistic Director of the Hyde Park Youth Symphony and is excited to join an organization that has inspired young musicians and enriched the Hyde Park community for so many years.
A conductor, violinist, violist, and educator with nearly three decades of experience, Anthony has dedicated his career to helping young musicians discover confidence, creativity, and lifelong joy through music. Before joining HPYS, he taught orchestra for nearly thirty years in public schools across Michigan and Illinois, directing award-winning string programs while also maintaining an active career as a professional performer, clinician, and guest conductor throughout the Chicago area.
Anthony believes that music is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. Whether on the concert stage or in the rehearsal room, his goal is to inspire curiosity, excellence, collaboration, and a genuine love of making music. He is passionate about creating meaningful musical experiences that challenge students artistically while fostering friendships, leadership, and a lasting sense of community.
Having proudly called Chicago home for many years, and now living on the South Side with his wife, fellow musician Raquel, and their dog, Scrappy, Anthony is thrilled to invest in the vibrant Hyde Park community. He looks forward to working alongside HPYS students, families, faculty, and supporters as the orchestra continues to grow, inspire, and make exceptional music together.
