HPYS welcomes all young musicians. The first step for new students is to sign up to audition live or by video.
Students can also submit video auditions to office@thehpys.org. The next season will begin in September 2026.

Scholarships and financial aid are available to students who need them who have completed their HPYS audition. HPYS is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all.
How to prepare for your audition
Start early.
Practice every day or almost every day. Practice even on days when you only have a few minutes to spend with your instrument.
Practice small sections, then put them together.
Practice difficult sections slowly, then speed them up when you've got it down.
Remember that music is about more than notes and rhythms. Dynamics, articulations, and phrases all help music communicate emotion, too!
Ask for help.
