Audition for the 2026-2027 Season!
Whatever your experience level, we have the right ensemble for you.
HPYS welcomes all young musicians. The first step for new students is to sign up to audition live or by video.
Students can also submit video auditions to office@thehpys.org. The next season will begin in September 2026. To audition, you may either enter a link to your video audition OR select a time slot for your LIVE audition on Saturday, June 13, 2026, 10am-2pm at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E 60th Street, Room 703. Exact times will be confirmed after you register.
Enrollment fees are $495 for Preparatory Strings, $560 for String Orchestra, and $660 for the symphony. HPYS is committed to making sure cost is never a barrier: scholarships are available!

How to prepare for your audition
Start early.
Practice every day or almost every day. Practice even on days when you only have a few minutes to spend with your instrument.
Practice small sections, then put them together.
Practice difficult sections slowly, then speed them up when you've got it down.
Remember that music is about more than notes and rhythms. Dynamics, articulations, and phrases all help music communicate emotion, too!
Ask for help.
