The Hyde Park Youth Symphony Board of Directors invite you to this special event to celebrate Artistic Director Matthew Sheppard's 10 years of inspiring leadership and to support the new HPYS Crescendo Fund. Please join us for a lively and elegant evening of gourmet bites & beverages with music by HPYS Board Member Dakarai Barclay and his trio, a regular at Chicago's Jazz Showcase.
For 70 years the Hyde Park Youth Symphony has been bringing together students from the across the south side to provide a high-quality orchestral performance and musical education experience.

The HPYS Crescendo Fund is being initiated in 2024 in honor of Matthew Sheppard's 10-year anniversary as the Artistic Director of Hyde Park Youth Symphony. Over this time, Matt has provided HPYS students with a program that prioritizes student's musical development and positive experiences while also raising the performance level of the ensembles.
The purpose of the HPYS Crescendo Fund is to enable the Artistic Director to pursue program enhancements each year without impacting the general operating fund. Donations to the Fund will be distributed over the next ten years to support initiatives as directed by the Artistic Director in consultation with the board. Funds may be used to enhance the student experience, bring in guest artists, build collaborations with other organizations, support new program ideas, or in other ways the Artistic Director feels will best serve HPYS and its students.
The Hyde Park Youth Symphony is dedicated to keeping our programs accessible and affordable to families. A gift of $500 provides a full-tuition scholarship for a student for the year.
