On December 14, 2023 the Hyde Park Youth Symphony Board of Directors hosted a pre-concert party honoring the work of our student members. The party was a great success and fundraising achievement in supporting our afterschool music programs for students from the South & West sides of Chicago.
In addition to libations and lively conversations, Artistic Director Matthew Sheppard, along with Board Co-President Alicia Wilson-Ahlstrom and Board Member Dakarai Barclay, spoke about HPYS programs and goals for the year.
Following the event, students of our three core ensembles performed for audience members, including highlights by Mozart, Vivaldi, Offenbach, and Holst.
