For students looking for their first ensemble experience, check out Preparatory Strings!
Small class sizes and an emphasis on building strong fundamentals of string technique, ensemble playing, and musicianship are the hallmarks of Preparatory Strings as students study a curriculum that balances the individual and group aspects of playing.
Led by Andrea Ferguson, a string specialist with years of experience in small-group instruction, students in Preparatory Strings study a wide range of repertoire for string players looking to learn in an ensemble setting.
From fiddle tunes to classical standards, the repertoire is chosen carefully to engage and challenge the students to excel.
The small class sizes create opportunities for students to perform frequently as soloists, both in rehearsals and performances, as they build confidence and develop their technique.
