Information regarding signing up will be available soon. Students can also submit video auditions to office@thehpys.org. Please submit those auditions by June 30th.
Preparatory Strings
Part 1: Scales
All players: choose a scale that you can play comfortably, demonstrating accurate and consistent finger pattern placement.
Part 2: Solo
Short solo or portion of a solo that best demonstrates your abilities.
Part 3: Sight-reading
At in-person auditions, students may be asked to show off their sight-reading abilities.
String Orchestra
Part 1: Scales
Violins: G and D major, two octaves
Violas and cellos: C and G major, two octaves
Basses: E and G major, one octave

Youth Symphony
Part 1: Scales
Violins: G and B-flat major, three octaves
Violas and cellos: C and E-flat major, three octaves
Basses: E and G major, two octaves
Winds, brass, piano, and harp: Concert C and B-flat major (two octaves (if possible), plus chromatic scale (your lowest to highest possible note)
